Your files

Your files never leave your machine. Every FileQuiet tool — Excel repair, PDF redaction, email archive viewer and Excel sheet unlock — is JavaScript that runs entirely inside your browser tab. There is no upload endpoint on our side; the code delivered to your browser has no way to transmit your file's contents to us or anyone else. You can verify this at any time with your browser's developer tools: the network tab shows every request a page makes.

This matters most for the redaction and email tools: a document you are blacking out, and an email archive containing years of private correspondence, are precisely the things that shouldn't travel. Rendering, the pattern-matching suggestions and the rebuild all happen locally — the email search index is built on your machine from your own archive, not shipped to a server.

When you pay, the locally-built result is kept in your browser's own local storage (IndexedDB) so it survives the redirect to Stripe and back. That storage lives on your device and is yours to clear.

What does touch a server

What we deliberately don't do

Payment records

Stripe gives us the normal transaction record: amount, time, card brand's last digits, and the file name you were charged for. We keep those records for accounting and refunds, nothing else.

Support email

If you write to support@shotfold.com, we keep the correspondence so we can help you. Please don't email us the broken file unless we explicitly ask and you're comfortable sharing it — the whole point of this tool is that you shouldn't have to.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. Material changes will be called out on this page.

Questions: support@shotfold.com. FileQuiet is a Wedgeworks product.
